How You Can Help

There are a number of ways individuals and organizations can get involved with Habitiat for Humanity Iqaluit (HFHIQ):

  • Volunteer your time at the build site
  • Donate funds, products, or land
  • Participate and offer professional expertise on one of our committees
  • Become a member of the Habitat for Humanity Board of Directors

Volunteer with us!

Habitat for Humanity Iqaluit will be back in Apex this summer, building our fourth home! The build gets underway in June, so if you are looking for an opportunity to be part of a volunteer team and get involved in the community, we could use your help.

Volunteers are needed every day for several months, and you can commit to as much time as you’re able. You can swing a hammer, tidy up the job site, prepare lunch for volunteers, and support the build in a variety of ways. You don’t need any construction skills, so don’t be afraid to give it a try!

Grab your friends and colleagues and come help us build our fourth Habitat for Humanity home.

What can you expect?

HFHIQ welcomes anyone who wants to join us in making a difference in the lives of those in their community. All volunteers over 18 years of age are welcome. No experience is necessary. If you have safety footwear, eyewear, or work gloves, please bring them with you along with a bottle of water.

Volunteer Positions

Building Site Volunteers

Building site volunteers are required to support contractors on site with various projects. No previous experience in construction needed. You will be required to sign in and will then be provided with a safety briefing before starting. Please bring your own safety footwear, eyewear and work gloves if you have them. We will have some on site for volunteers to use for the day, but we have limited numbers.

***Note: The build will be happening rain or shine, snow or mosquitoes! Please dress in weather appropriate clothing.

Office Volunteers

This role requires volunteers who have had previous experience in an office environment. Knowledge of Microsoft Office software and the ability to use various office equipment would be an asset.

If you have any questions about volunteering or have any extra safety equipment that you would be willing to donate to Habitat, please bring them to the site or contact us by:
